gift idea: cookie dough to go.

ho ho ho, i bring you cookie dough to go.
BAM. rhyming skillzzzzzz to the max! in your face, players.

you know how sometimes i like to start my posts off by rhyming? well, it's really dumb.  but for some reason, i can't stop.

moving on. here is a fun and easy gift giving option for those of you who would love to not spend a ton of money but also give a gift that keeps on giving. as in...a muffin top. who doesn't want/need a muffin top around the holidays? it's so festive. or something.

cookie dough to go!

i stole this idea from our best bites... a favorite food blog. they posted it last year and it has been stuck in my brain all year. not on pinterest. IN MY ACTUAL BRAIN. let that sink in for a moment.

so just make your dough. here are my go-to recipes.
oatmeal chocolate chip cookies
double chocolate chip cookies (double this one to bake it into 4 packages)

don't use margarine. please. don't profane the cookies.

just divide up your dough.
Photobucket

then put what looks like a poop load onto some plastic wrap. i'm sorry i had to use that term, but it just looks a little weird.
Photobucket

so wrap this well and then roll it in some parchment paper. i secured the paper down with scotch tape.
tie the ends with bakers twine or ribbon.
Photobucket

make a cute label
Photobucket

or you can just use my design HERE. i took my name off it, don't you worry. print away!
i forgot to write on the instructions to slice into 8 cookies. those will be large...but again, we're giving the gift of a muffin top and this will take large portions. it will make 12 normal sized cookies...but then you would need to bake them for 10  minutes instead.

question: how long do they keep? i mean, they need to be refrigerated, right? i'm trying to picture how this works with actual ingredients like eggs in them, ya know?

p.s. i love the labels! i will take them and use them. good day.

jenny rawson,
yes...these will keep for a week in the fridge. you can't just hand these out to people who aren't going directly home...otherwise, the dough will spoil.

i also didn't write out great instructions...but you should slice these into 8 cookies. i like them HUGE! if you want people to get a dozen out of them, you'll have to change the cooking time to like 10 minutes.

oops...jenny and amanda, i mixed your questions up!

jenny, the fonts are "the only exception" and the normal print is helvetica font that you probs already have in your computer! the only exception is free at daFont.com

It makes me pee a little bit sometimes from laughing so hard (don't judge... pregnant with an almost 2 year old here...). You are so crafty, funny and your house always looks amazingly clean all doing this with 3 kids! What the heck!? How do you do it? Oh and your photography is awesome too... forgot about that. :-)

Thanks for the lovely cookie idea! So much fun!

fun idea and they look so cute! I love anything that I can wrap bakers twine around. I'm a little obsessed this season and if it sits still in my house long enough it's getting tied with bakers twine.
oh and I have to say - your oatmeal choc chip cookies are da bomb. I tried to make them for years and years and never could get them to be soft and chewy like i wanted. Then I came across your recipe and bam. perfect. delicious. i love them. even if hey give me a muffin top :)
p.s. i like your rhymes and your love of butter! margarine is so lame.

Jami, I saw your sister's blog too. I know stalker right? but I love the hilarity that ensues with your family, sorry for being a creep. The first step is admitting it right? Anyway. I wanted to know how you "write"/ draw things like arrows and funny comments on your pics. I'm new to this whole blogging thing as you know. I need to spice up my life a little. If you have time, please share :)
